As Chief Executive, Ian Hopkins is responsible to the board for the overall technical and financial performance of all offices of NDY.
 
Prior to his appointment as CEO in 1991, Ian was Director in charge of NDY's Melbourne office. He had overseen the growth of this office from a 10 person operation in 1979 to an office of over 100 people with full multi-disciplinary capability in the building services field. His commitment to technical excellence has positioned the firm as an acknowledged market leader.
 
From 1977 to 1979, Ian worked as senior engineer and engineering manager for Carrington Air Conditioning. Following completion of his undergraduate studies, Ian spent a brief period with Qantas in early 1972 before joining Norman Disney & Young's Sydney Office, where he worked as a project engineer until December, 1976.
 
Ian has extensive experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams on major projects including the Grollo Tower, ANZ International HQ, 100 Queen St, Melbourne Central Tower and Atrium buildings, and the National Tennis Centre in Melbourne.
