Since February 2003, NDY Health has been retained by the Commercial Directorate of the Department of Health to provide infrastructure advice on many of their procurements involving the Independent Sector.
The UK Government has invested heavily in healthcare to meet its target of reducing waiting times from GP referral to treatment to no more than 18 weeks by Dec 2008. In order to provide adequate levels of service to cope with the new demand, the Department of Health is procuring services from the Independent Sector.
The NDY Health UK team, headed by Gary Walters, is involved in all
steps of the procurement process, using a business acumen stretching
beyond mechanical and electrical engineering capabilities
combined with an understanding of how the National Health Service
operates.
The consultancy work involves:
- Drafting of PQQ and ITN documentation
- Assessing responses to PQQs and ITNs
- Undertaking site surveys & due diligence
- Liaising with Providers on infrastructure matters during negotiations
- Drafting of Service Agreements and Final Business Cases
- Overseeing the services design
So far, the team has provided infrastructure advice to the Department on 62 procurements involving the Independent Sector, worth £6.5bn, and is scheduled to begin the next wave of projects in November 2006.
