NDY wins award for data centre in northern England

Norman Disney & Young has won a Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Low Carbon Performance Award 2010 for the HP Wynyard Data Centre. The award for Design or Technical Innovation of the Year was presented to NDY at a ceremony in London on 4 February 2010.

The HP Wynyard Data Centre utilises a unique air cooling system. It was designed to achieve annual energy savings of over 40% compared to a typical modern data centre design.

Keith Davis appointed Director, Health Services

Norman Disney & Young’s commitment to servicing the health sector has been further strengthened by the appointment of Keith Davis to the position of Director, Health Services. Mr Davis will remain based in Melbourne, where he leads NDY Melbourne’s health team. As part of his expanded role, he will oversee NDY’s continued push into the provision of specialised building services to the health sector across Australia and New Zealand.

Building owners advised to act quickly in seeking funding from Green Building Fund

Building owners should act quickly to secure assistance from the federal government’s A$90 million Green Building Fund according to Norman Disney & Young’s Melbourne-based manager of MPlus Nick Thurlow.

The Green Building Fund was set up in an attempt to reduce the energy consumed in Australia’s commercial office buildings. Grants of up to $A500,000 are available to owners of existing buildings.

Project close to home for NDY receives high praise

Innovative outreach program targets tomorrow’s engineers

Key appointment made to NDY Risk

Norman Disney & Young has strengthened its NDY Risk team by appointing Sam Chiam as the group leader. Sam, who is based in Melbourne but available to clients across Australia, began at NDY in mid October 2009.

NDY Risk assists clients develop optimal risk management strategies by improving the reliability and effectiveness of internal analysis and controls. The services it offers encompass operational and business risk management across all levels within the utilities, industry, government and commercial sectors.

NDY London project wins major UK industry award

The Yellow Building has been announced as the winner of The British Construction Industry Awards 2009 Building Award.

This innovative development, described by the judging panel as a striking new local landmark, acts as the new headquarters for international retail group Monsoon Accessorize. The judges said: “Part office, part workshop, part gallery, part corporate HQ, The Yellow Building is environmentally smart, structurally light and will no doubt become Monsoon's much-loved home of the future.”

NDY assists relief efforts following recent disasters

Norman Disney & Young has donated eight shelter boxes to aid victims of recent disasters including the tsunamis and earthquakes in Samoa and Indonesia. The A$9600 donation to ShelterBox Australia, a global Rotary Club project, will provide shelter and emergency support to at least eight families of 10 people for up to 12 months.
