NDY Graduate Melanie Finch awarded ANZ CIBSE Graduate of the year
The annual ANZ CIBSE awards give passionate, young engineers a voice and a chance to step out of the shadows. This year, NDY Sydney’s own Melanie Finch received the inaugural CIBSE ANZ Graduate of the Year – a new category for the awards.
Melanie’s early career has demonstrated her interest in developing herself within the building services industry. At university this took the form of a cadetship at NDY, along with advising on the redesign of the HVAC Professional Elective assessment structure at UNSW and Presidency of the UNSW Mechanical Engineering Society. Moving into her role as an NDY Graduate this year, Melanie has delivered a range of mechanical design projects in the asset performance and existing buildings space. She has also continued her engagement with the wider industry and engineering community through joining the CIBSE YEN committee and mentorship of student engineers.
“I am incredibly appreciative to have been successful in gaining this award. For me, it validates the basis of my application – that we as an industry can have a hugely positive impact by pushing for innovation and excellence in the solutions we present, not only on high profile projects but also on the large volume of seemingly routine jobs that keep the industry ticking over. It’s encouraging to know that this resonates with leaders from across the industry, and I feel humbled to have been recognised in association with this goal.”
