The ILSC Australia fitout is located on Level 6 of 520 George Street Sydney and was completed in 2012. ILSC specialise in providing English courses for students wishing to improve their language skill and pursue further learning. ILSC provides educational language courses internationally at multiple locations within Australia, Canada, India and America.

NDY was engaged by project managers and architects Insight Projects to design the services and integrate the ILSC fitout into Level 6.

ILSC relocated their existing education facility from Epping into the heart of the CBD. The 850 m2 fitout accommodates over 310 staff and students within 17 classrooms, additional meeting rooms and student support areas.

Occupant Density

The fitout required an occupant density almost four times that of a standard commercial fitout. Working with the building owner and Insight Projects, NDY was able to design a solution which introduces a large quantity of additional fresh air without adversely affecting the building operation. The air conditioning system installed allows after hours operation of the classrooms and fully accommodated ILSC Australia’s desired occupancy and special operating requirements.

Energy Efficiency

To reduce the energy consumption of the ILSC Australia fitout NDY introduced energy saving features into the services design. The classroom air conditioning system incorporates heat recovery to reduce the energy consumption of the fitout providing a saving to ILSC. The air conditioning and lighting were integrated with motion sensors throughout the level to ensure these systems are only activated when classrooms are occupied.
