The Nobbies Visitor Centre was originally designed in 1999 to house a major seal-themed ticketed attraction, including an underground train tunnel leading to Seal Rocks. When the project was abandoned, and the property purchased by the Victorian Government, a large part of the building was closed off.

The Centre receives around 300,000 visitors per year, and entry to the centre is currently free. Nature Parks primarily generates revenue from café, corporate functions and merchandise sales. There is also a small interactive exhibition space providing information about the local environment and Seal Rocks as well as a children’s indoor play area.

NDY was engaged to upgrade the building services for the centre. The project aligns with the Phillip Island Nature Parks’ vision “To be a world recognised place of conservation excellence providing outstanding and authentic experiences for all”.

The complete facility consists of an interactive exhibition, establishment of a number of secondary associated interpretive exhibitions and some physical internal refreshing of the existing centre.
