Following on from the successful award of the Sydney facility, this data centre was commenced in parallel to allow Metronode to deliver two identical facilities with adequate distance separation that was required as part of a tender award for one of the anchor tenants of the facility. The initial implementation of this site was for two data hall modules, with capacity to expand to a total of ten modules over five construction stages. The innovative BladeRoom design and resulting engineering services design provided by NDY for the balance of services and plant deliver a high system efficiency and performance, with a Performance Utilisation Effectiveness (PUE) 1.17.

The services infrastructure was designed in a block redundant scheme, with each block of data halls consisting of 2 MW power modules supported by a 2 MW redundant module. This arrangement offers both an efficient and resilient design that meets the requirements of current day mission critical facilities. The facility has also been benchmarked against the Uptime Institute Tier III design with certification for design and operation, reinforcing the system robustness and reliability expected of a world class mission critical facility.

The NDY design team met the various design constraints and challenges associated with this project including:

  • Staged power delivery allowing initially for a LV distribution strategy that will be augmented in the future to 11kV with minimal impact to the site infrastructure and operational  performance
  • The management of strict acoustic requirements on the site
  • Compliance to NABERs requirements for the technical office areas
  • Coordination of in-ground services systems that allow for future expansion.

The project was successfully completed to the full satisfaction of our client and data hall tenants within a tight time and cost delivery program.
