Excellence in design and documentation is a vital prerequisite
to a first class project. However, if continued diligence is
not carried through the construction phase of the project, the
client will not receive the full benefit from the Consulting
Engineer's expertise.
Norman Disney & Young believe in employing both design
engineers and engineers from a contracting background on the
basis that the combination of these skills provides great benefits
to our clients. By working proactively with the builder and
subcontractors, the following services and benefits are available:
- Continual assessment of the installed systems against the
design intent;
- Assessment of equipment, materials and workmanship against
specification. This includes review of shop drawings, samples,
technical data and work method statements so that quality
can be built in;
- Consideration of alternative approaches to ascertain whether
such alternatives are in the interests of our client;
- Contract Administration including progress assessments and
advice on variations to the contract;
- Assistance with planning commissioning, particularly where
multiple service contractors need to coordinate complicated
operating sequences.
As a result of detailed involvement at this stage, the Consulting
Engineer is often in a position to identify potential problems
and assist in resolving them at the earliest possible stage.
