Winter fun in the sun
Following a hiatus of nine years the popular Wilston Winter Magic Fair (WWMF) returned to the Brisbane suburb of Wilston on Sunday 3rd of June, 2012. The aim of the fair was to raise money for the HAND Disability and Leisure Centre.
HAND is a not for profit organisation in Brisbane supporting people with a disability by enhancing leisure and lifestyle opportunities. The aim of HAND is to provide support which promotes opportunities for individuals to develop skills, access the community and become more independent.
Kedron Brook Road in Wilston was transformed into a winter wonderland for families, children and the wider community with artificial snow on the ground, winter breed dog show and entertainment. The fair also offered rides, a Lego tent and over 30 stalls showcasing the best in food, drink and fashion.
The Lego Tent, which NDY sponsored through the NDY Charitable Trust, was a great hit with all the children. NDY’s donation allowed for the purchase of a large amount of Lego to be played with on the day and has since been cleaned and donated to the HAND leisure centre for their own use.
WWMF Fun Team Coordinator Meredith Gentner thanked NDY for their kind donation, “It is great to see companies, such as NDY, that support individual staff members in their own personal charitable or philanthropic efforts. The community spirit was well ignited and everyone had a wonderful time”.
With close to 5000 people attending this community event it was a very successful day and NDY was proud supporter of such a creative and imaginative community endeavour.
