The Business and Events Centre is a two storey 3,300 m² office located on Levels 5-6 at 727 Collins Street, known as the Collins Square Precinct.

The Business and Events Centre operates as a large public function centre, suitable for small meeting rooms (four person) through to large conference rooms (200 person). The Level 5 Events Centre can house 400 people at full capacity. These facilities service the many businesses located within the broader Collins Square precinct, but are also available for hire to external businesses.

NDY provided the design documentation for mechanical, electrical, communications, security, fire and hydraulics services. The client vision for the final design was a professional concierge style experience for clients, with integrated meeting room AV/technology with simple user interfaces.

The Business and Events Centre has increased the overall value of the Collins Square precinct in offering this diverse range of meeting room facilities.

NDY designed the mechanical services to adapt to the variations in occupant numbers within the building. This included stepping up the system to cope with large numbers in the conference centre, as well as catering for when these spaces have fewer occupants.

Visible services such as grilles and fire sprinklers were both hidden and integrated into the overall design to minimise their presence and maximise Carr’s architectural vision. All exposed services such as light fittings or power outlets were located and colour matched to complement the visual language and interior colour scheme, further supporting the client requirement of providing a space that is functional, adaptable and aesthetically pleasing to all occupants.
